Are Your Record Seasonal Sales Hiding Shrinking Profits?

Why Selling More Doesn't Always Mean Earning More
Every entrepreneur welcomes a successful trading season. More customers, more orders and rising revenue suggest that the business is moving in the right direction. Yet there is a commercial contradiction that deserves closer examination. Your busiest season could also be the period when your business gives away the greatest proportion of its profits.
This is the question at the heart of SistaTalk30: The Seasonal Branding Paradox, an online live webinar with Sonia Brown MBE on Friday 6 November 2026, 12:00–12:30 pm GMT.
Consider mathematics. A product selling for £100 with £60 in variable costs generates £40 in contribution. Reduce the selling price by 20%, and that contribution falls to £20. You now need to sell twice as many units simply to generate the same total contribution, assuming costs remain unchanged.
