A damaged reputation does not always announce itself through dismissal, disciplinary action or public criticism. Sometimes it appears as the promotion you were never considered for, the sponsor who quietly stops advocating for you, the board appointment that goes to someone else or the contract that unexpectedly disappears. Nobody tells you that confidence has shifted. You simply discover that opportunities which once seemed within reach are no longer available.
